About the administrators
Normand is the family's "artist". An industrial designer by trade, he plays guitar and (sometimes) draws cartoons as a hobby. Among his interests are science fiction, computers and technologies, especially CAD. He is a staunch supporter of FOSS.
Sylvain is the family's "scientist". Among his interests are also science fiction, computers and technologies, especially the development of object-oriented applications and FOSS. He's father to a charming and mischievouse 2 year-old boy. In his meager spare time, when he's not pursuing one of the above mentioned hobbies, he plays a little piano.
What's the meaning of the site's name and tagline?
Now that's a tough one to translate from French.
When we were young, our father was often subjected to his family's chronic tardiness. One day, exasperated, he exclaimed:
Vous, votre maxime, ce n'est pas « rien ne sert de courir, il faut partir à point », mais plutôt « rien ne sert de partir, il faut courir à point »!
"Rien ne sert de courir, il faut partir à point" is a well-known French proverb taken from the first verse of Jean de La Fontaine's fable "Le lièvre et la tortue" (The Hare and the Tortoise). The fable is about a hare that loses his race against a tortoise, so confident of his victory against such a slow opponent that he postpones his start until it is too late.
An approximate translation would be "haste is unnecessary when one leaves early". Our father ironically turned the meaning around, thus vaunting the procrastinating hare, and the expression was used profusely over the years.
Hence the domain name: Courir à POINT ca (point is French for dot).
